Arrival at Udun Thani, we rented a car at Avis. As always I took a lot of pictures if they think I have done anything wrong with the car, when I return it later. |
We arrived after midnight, so they have dressed in nightdress. We just talked a little before we went to bed. This was so hard that I bought a new bed next day. Hope the sister that build the house like it. Just good smiles and nice people met us here. The infrastructure is far much better then it is in Phuket. |

The young people have limited choices to get work in Kusuman. This young girl is therefore working in Bangkok, a Chinese restaurant. Then they can send money home to mamma and papa. |
In the morning I can see Mai`s uncle fire up. As everyone in their family, have their duties to do every morning. |

The kitchen is outdoor. If you think that must be a problem, think again. It has its advantages to. It is not as clean as a modern kitchen indoors. When they discover they had ran out of gas, just start using the coal grill instead. No problem to use a lot of water here. The Thai kitchen is known for its quality. Just remember to say "MAI PET" meaning not spicy. The chilly burns in my mouth! |
As we wake up the next morning, they just took Stina and hugged and loved her. Here she is with Sotisa, sister no 3. Babies are welcome and popular. Everyone wanted to see and play with her. Whatever Stina did play, there was always someone that cept an eye on her, or just picket her up for a ride. So Stina had a fantastic time. |
Here you see Stina, shows her own Photo album with pictures of Stina to some of her new friends and family.
Then just of curiosity I checked out how many pictures there are of her in my computer, I found 1,384. |

As I was going to town to do some shopping. You never go alone in Thailand. Here everyone that have time, and wanted, follows you. Then it was just for me to say what I wanted. I think we got the best bed in town. Mai wanted to bye a bike to one in the family. After this, her brother showed up with his truck, so we could get it home to Kusuman. So it was time to have a lunch. Mai`s brother is sitting to the very left, he is living in Bangkok. |
Every evening we had a party. This is important to a Thai. As they fastning a cotton thread to the wrist. Then they wish good luck. It was a little short string in the beginning, so the older people had problem, but soon they cut them longer. With lot of food and drinks, it was fun for everyone. People from everywhere showed up. Then sit down in small groups. |
As you can see, a blanked, food, and drinks. Many groups so you could walk around and talk to many people. And it ended out in to the early morning. Not so easy to sit on the floor for me, so I had to stretched out many times. |

Here is the main farmhouse for Mai`s sister No 2. Not as strong build as in western farms. The daughter of the house is hoping to build a room on the pouch for herself. This will cost about 10,000 Bath(= 312 US$) She is 22 years old, so she had to go to Bangkok and start earning the money, as this is a lot of money.
A small picture of Mai and another sister in the corner. |

Next to Mai`s sister No 2, is their brother living, his name is HAA. Mai have one brother in Kusuman and one brother living in Bangkok.
He lives from what they can get out of the farm as any other farmer do around the world. It goes up and down. Of course they have water-buffolos, chickens and dogs.
Stina and HAA found the tone at once. The firstborn brother lived next to him. No 1 died 3 years ago. They number each other, so Mai is the youngest and she is No 7. HAA is brother No 5, meaning he was the fifth born and a brother. |
Here you can see sister NO 2 and her husband, her name is PIZZA MAI. |

Next day we took our small rented car to the lake, next to Sakon Nakhorn, and five people where sitting in the back site. So 7 people in the little car. Nice worm people you would like at once. |
Mai takes a picture. I think she ended with 20 pictures, and I took more then 200 pictures. |
I just had to show you a cement-facktury inside a temple they are working to expand. The cement-truck is strong, but goes very slowly. The children is working, as the school is closed for a month. |
A shuttle bus in Kusuman. Everyone in very good mood. The farmer, fix the transport. |
Last evening we had a party, as we where going home. I hope Mai meet all the people she knows, as there was many that drop by and had a good time. Even her old teacher and his wife droped bye to say hallo. |
Here they have another variation of "tuk-tuk", they call it: sam loa ouen. Lot of room for people and/or cargo. In Bangkok I have seen a seen a third variation. So they must be made locally. |

We just had to have a trip to where brother No 1 was. The memorial is not far from his house. Here you is Pizza Mai sister No 2, Haa brother No 5, Mai is sister No 7 and Stina. The brother was burned up outside the temple, after his wish. Mai had flower and pried with her brother and sister. |

Outside this museum of Kusuman, at Pah Alan, Mai had to do the same again. She told me this was where everyone honored all the people that past away. Picture to the right is a close up from the picture above this text. |

A normal town house in Kusuman, that is a big house. The plants outside the house are used in cooking. It tasted bitter Stina told me, but it is good for the health. Hve I ever heard that one before? |
